And a Conversation Broke Out at the Mailboxes

I absolutely hate going to get the mail. We used to get our mail at our apartment building, you could grab it on your way to your apartment. Then the complex management decided to build a central location to have mail delivered to. This means I now have to drive to get my mail and it's not easy to get my mail anymore so I actually signed up for a service with the post office that sends me an email when I get mail...you can laugh, it cracks me up myself. But I digress....

I am working from home today, which means the dog did not go to daycare. This is an important fact because working from home means I'm in pajamas, slippers and have bed head. I took a break for lunch and decided I should go pick up my mail and it would get the dog out. Again, I'm in pajamas, slippers with bed head. Whose really home to get their mail at noon anyway, right?

As I'm getting my mail I hear a voice behind me "looking for your stimulus check?". I turn around to see a very well dressed man who is getting his mail as well.....and I'm in my pajamas, slippers and have bed head, I'm feeling a bit uncomfortable because of the way I look but I laughed a bit. Then he said "you know nobody is going to get a stimulus check because the Government is shutting down the Post Office". This cracked me up, I no longer feel uncomfortable. I told him I would see if I could contact Elon to find out how we're going to get our stimulus check. He laughed and said "oh, they're going to email it to us". I replied "with a link we have to click on to get it". By now we're both laughing. His final remark was "and when you click on the link they'll make you enter your credit card information to pay for the access to it." My response "and then your identity gets stolen." That trip to get the mail was worth it, the guy made my day. We joked about the Government and neither of us got butt hurt or felt the need to go on a 30 minute rant explaining our point of view of the Government to the other.

It was really just nice.
